  I feel like I'm being pushed away

  ok, so here's my story as it stands right now.

  my husband and i have been married for 6 1/2 years.

  about 2 weeks after we were married, he was appointed as a ministerial servant.

  You're starting to awaken, and this is a good thing.

  "The Truth" isn't the truth and the WTBTS does not have a direct pipeline to Jehovah and they aren't his chosen representation.

  They are, quite simply, just an American cult.

  If it was "the truth" and Jehovah's favorite, then what you've been observing in your congregation wouldn't exist.

  Yes they say to give your all, even if that means 4 hours a month. If that's all you can put in, then that's all you can put in.

  But.....they're hypocrites. What they say and what they demand are different. It's all about appearances (not serving God) and furthering the intrests of the WTBTS.

  Faking it or Making it..SCREWED by the Watchtower Society in 75'

  in 1975 the watchtower society woke up and they weren't in paradise.. they turned over and pulled the sheets down to see what lay beside them in that cheap motel room called the day after.. they had said all the right words.

  they made all the right moves.

  they had made their bed and now they were lying in it.

  Personally, I always likened it to Orwell's 1984 and Winston Smith's arrest, imprisionment, and torture in the Ministry of Love.

  "We are at war with Eurasia. We have always been at war with Eurasia" said the Party.

  Then, overnight, the Party suddenly wasn't at war with Eurasia. They were at war with Eastasia.

  "We are at war with Eastasia. We have always been at war with Eastasia" said the Party.

  Since the Party had "always been at war with Eastasia," to think other otherwise was Thoughtcrime. If you remembered that only as of last week, Oceaninia had not been at war with Eastasia, but rather Eurasia, you were a mentally defective individual, or a Thoughtcriminal.

  So it is/was with the WTBTS. They themselves wrote about the possibilities of what 1975 might hold. They allowed, even encouraged, JWs worldwide to get fired up, believing that Armageddon was coming in the year 1975. In fact, you were considered a fine witness if you abadoned good jobs and creature comforts in order to pioneer full time in the years leading up to 1975. All the JWs were betting with their lives that it was "the truth" and Armageddon was coming, and soon they would be in paradise.

  Then, almost overnight, Armageddon suddenly wasn't coming in 1975. And, as far as the WTBTS espoused, Armageddon never was coming in 1975. Any error of thought that led a JW to believe that it was, was an error that lay within the JW himself/herself. They ran ahead of the Society. They were impatient with Jehovah. They were Thoughtcriminals in a sense.

  "We are at war with Eastasia. We have always been at war with Eastasia."

  The Winston Smiths v.1 (one group of JWs)who woke up, who didn't allow the WTBTS to send 1975 down the memory hole (sweeping it under the rug and plausable deniability), could not be reconditioned, and so they were drummed out of the Party (DA'd, DF'd, and labeled Apostate).

  The Winston Smiths v.2 (other group of JWs) who held on to their beliefs, who refused to leave the bOrg, were reconditioned in the Ministry of Love (subsequent WT publications, talks, subtle bullying and threats).

  In the end, as in the end of 1984, they (2nd group of JWs) "loved Big Brother."

  watchtower nov 1 2007 p.17 {1889} "zions watchtower has jehovah for it's backer and while this is the case it will never beg nor petition men for support.".

  "mexico... manuel says, my grandmother gave me a mother pig.....iam sending as a donation what i recieved from selling the pig.....$110 dollars..." {now i ask you couldn't manuel have used that $110 bucks for himself?}.

  "14 year old girl from cameroon {another poor country where people can't afford food}....school supplies, i sold two of last years text books $5 dollars i am contributing this plus an aditional $1.82 from my savings...." {this is very sub-liminal, poor kids are donating so how much will you rich folks give?}.

  Oh shit! I remember that article from not too long ago.

  I think it very immoral that the WTBTS writes articles like that, i.e. impoverished people from impoverished countries donating money to the WTBTS. With that money they could buy food and other neccessities of life. But no, the WTBTS praises them for remaining in poverty in order to send a hundred or so dollars to an already obscenly rich, morally bankrupt corporation!

  The bOrg likes to slam the Catholic church for doing the same exact thing. "Oh those poor poor people! Giving their precious few dollars to Babylon! How immoral!!!!!"

  some individuals believe the earth will really be destroyed either by means of god or man in this century.. what's your take?.

  Do I think it is possible for the Earth to become uninhabitable and most (if not all) of life on it to die? Yes. Unless we humans get our act together and start taking better care of this planet.

  Do I think this 'End Times' is because of a god coming to judge all of humankind? No.

  The body of elders are worthless today!

  back in the old days, i remember when the elders actually cared about the flock.

  i was involved with helping older sisters, (octegenarians, widows) to take them to the grocery store and help them each week.. i remember helping when an older one would fall, and helping clean up the blood, and get there home in order from their return from the hospital.

  just a lot of good works.. that stuff is out the window now.

  Crazyblondeb--you and I are abou 2 hours away from one another (I'm in the KC/Independence area).

  It had always been my experience that it was the women who were expected to take care of ill or incapacitated ones (meals, cleaning, grocery shopping, etc.).

  The men would mow a lawn.

  The Elders would take credit for arranging everything of course, but the reality was the R&F were the ones who made it happen.

  When I helped my folks take care of my Alzheimer's grandmother (long time JW), their congregation never helped one iota. Once, several elderly sisters came over for tea and cookies with my grandmother, but I never once saw any other member of the congregation for 3 years until she died.

  Then of course they came out in droves for the JW Infomercial (funeral) and Grief Buffet (food after the funeral).

  Truly excellent points from all!

  Oddly enough, some JWs just Doublethink themselves further into complacency. My folks are prime examples.

  Growing up, the congregation was filled. Nowadays, their congregaion is quite small. After living through the failed 1975 prophecy, I would have thought they would have awoke to the fraud, but no. My folks Doublethinked themselves into being hardliners. They actually became "better witnesses" after 1975.

  Today, their whole world is the WTBTS and their long-time hardliner JW friends.

  Anyway, when I allow myself to be badgered into going to meetings with them, the meetings are so bland, so homogenous, so rigid, that you could replace everyone with robots and pre-recorded talks and you wouldn't notice the difference.

  I just hope my parents will continue to delude themselves until their deaths. If they awaken, it'll actually destroy them because they've been in it so long. They couldn't function.

  How Did YOU Personally Feel About "Keeping The Congregation Clean"?

  did you report others that you either suspected of doing something wrong or knew of that had committed some "wrongdoing"?.

  the elders regularly tried to lay a "guilt trip" on members by telling them they could personally "hinder god's holy spirit" if they didn't come forward to the elders and either fink on themselves or someone else.. did you buy into this crap??

  where someone joked about getting df'd for cracking a fart.... it made me think...and i wrote this story awhile back and posted it early this morning......my humor is strange..i should have posted in in jokes and humor in the first place......forgive me lard, because i have sinned... .

  I would let out with a stream of profanity. I'd hold up an illustrated evolution chart and proclaim "this is the only truth you need to learn!" I'd play rock n' roll over the PA. I'd bring my worldly boyfriend and french kiss him in front of everyone.

  people are driving for miles to the few shops that have opened....many pioneers leave there own congregation territory to buy some 1 hour drive away....i took a box to my witness work mates...they acted like i was giving them gold!

  poor witnesses.

  they do taste excellent fresh....coffee shops like "starbucks" never took off here....were not big on coffee.
